Dear participants,

Welcome to the e-learning section of the "Parametrization of subgrid physical processes" course that will take place at the ECMWF headquarters in Reading on 20 November to 24 November 2023.

During the course each parametrized process is introduced and then discusses theory, modelling and verification over several sessions.

This five-day course itself is a combination of lectures, hands-on practicals, group problem classes, and suggested elements of pre-course study that will be presented and completed here on this e-learning platform.

The pre-learning activities are a mix of mandatory and voluntary lessons, and will ensure you have the knowledge to get the most out of the practical parts of the course. Specifically, they will provide introductory information on parametrization, convection and single column modelling that will be used during the practicals. Activities include completing several online e-learning modules, contributing to online discussion forums, and creating a poster and accompanying mini presentation.

We encourage you to explore this e-learning platform and make use out of its interactive functions such as the forum, to get to know each other and discuss anything you'd like between participants ahead of meeting each other in November.
